Virtual Festival
“Cambridge Folk Festival, having been running now for a staggering 46 years, would appear as solid as a rock. Set in the sumptuous grounds of Cherry Hinton Hall… the event rarely has any trouble selling all of its 10,000 tickets to a loyal and devoted fanbase who come back to the site year after year, 2011 being no exception.
Stages are packed for the big draws, such as regular Kate Rusby, Richard Thompson and new kid on the block Newton Faulkner, all of whom seem to feel at home enough here to give the crowd exactly what they want, and mutual love abounds.
…in the more intimate surroundings of side stage The Den you can see beguiling unsigned female harmony trio The Staves, or a charming, intimate warm-up set by Laura Marling’s guitarist Pete Rou, gems which other festivals might shoehorn in somewhere as an afterthought, but which Cambridge deems as important as its headliners.”
