Young Musician Competition

Are you aged between 14 and 18 and into folk music? Want a chance to perform live in the Club Tent at the Cambridge Folk Festival on Sunday 28 July 2013?

We’ve a limited number of free tickets for this year’s Festival, for people to participate in a whole range of workshops at The Hub youth music area, which will culminate in the chance to perform with The Hub Band in the Club Tent on Sunday evening 28 July 2013.

To enter you’ll need to send in a maximum of 3 tracks, on CD together with information about yourself, including your age, by 7 May 2013 to:

Young Musician Competition,
The Cambridge Folk Festival,
Cambridge City Council,
The Guildhall,
Cambridge,
CB2 3QJ

Don’t forget to include your contact details including address, phone number and email.

Winners will be selected according to the strength and suitability of their music by a panel including Eddie Barcan, festival programmer and acclaimed folk musician, singer and writer Bella Hardy.  You will be notified by 4 June 2013 if you’re submission has been successful.

The competition is open to individuals or bands. Under 16’s will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.  If you are aged 16 or 17 you will need to be accompanied by an adult or we will require written confirmation from your parent or legal guardian that they are happy for you to attend the festival unaccompanied.

Weekend passes for winners (including camping at Coldhams Common) will be sent out by the first week in July.

IMPORTANT: Competition tickets are extremely limited. If you wish to attend the Festival regardless of whether you win tickets or not, you should buy them in the normal manner when they go on sale, before they sell out.
