Renowned for its high standards, intimate atmosphere and wide definition of what might be considered folk, the Cambridge Folk Festival is one of the most respected music festivals of any genre and a firm fixture on the UK’s summer cultural calendar attracting a huge national profile. More popular than ever it continues to sell out in record time and deliberately maintains an intimate capacity while its profile rivals that of larger scale Festivals. The Festival has a 10,000 daily capacity with 14,000 total attendance. The Festival has sold out for over 15 years within hours.

The Festival is one of the most acclaimed of its kind in the whole of Europe with an extremely loyal following. In 2010 the Festival website received 152,498 unique visitors with 1,104,189 hits to the site.

Who views the website?
The Festival website is used by the majority of people who come to the event and also by thousands more who each year are not lucky enough to get tickets.
The majority of the audience is from A, B, C1 socio-economic groups (80%), with an almost equal split of male/female.
67% of attendees work in professional, clerical & managerial occupations with newspaper readership favouring quality broadsheets such as The Guardian, The Observer, The Times and The Independent.
25% of attendees earn in excess of £35,000 pa, 25% earn £25 – 35,000 and 50% under £25,000.
Attendees come from right across the UK with 40% from the South East region and 19% of those from Cambridge and the vicinity.
Families account for large numbers of attendees (approximately 14% of the attendees are under 14 years).
17% of the audience is under 25 years with 11% current students.
26-45 years (42% of the audience), 46-55 years (27%), 55+ years. (14%). Loyal audiences with over 70% repeat attendees.
Key website information
The busiest months for the site are between January and July where traffic remains at a solidly high level. The peaks of this traffic are when the line-up and ticketing information are annouced and in July (immediately before the Festival).
