Folk with Attitude is a folk youth ensemble who performed for the first time at the Festival in 2011, at The Den on Friday.
The group is run by Cambridgeshire Music, aiming to raise the profile of traditional folk music with local young musicians by developing their skills in instrumental music & song, and learning to play as a Ceilidh Band.
The group formed in September 2010 and rehearses weekly in term time as part of Cambridgeshire Music’s Cambridge Area Academy.
So far the ensemble has fiddles of various sizes, flute, clarinets, saxophones and piano and enjoy themselves rehearsing on Friday evenings. Its young members arrange their own sets and develop their own musical knowledge covering a variety of folk music styles – English, American, Irish, Scottish, Orkney and Shetland.
Cambridge-based young people aged 11 – 18 years are welcome to join including instrumentalists of Grade 4 and above and singers.
