In 2011 we won a prestigious A Greener Festival Award for the fourth year running, for our initiatives in reducing the festival’s environmental impact. We received a Highly Commendable ranking amongst only 9 other festivals worldwide, including Glastonbury, the US Festival Lollapalooza and Bestival.
Festivals who apply for the scheme must prove to the judges that the festival has meaningful and effective environmental policies and practices to deal with traffic and transport, greenhouse gas emissions, waste and recycling, water conservation, noise pollution, ethical policies and environmental protection. The festivals should also have sustainable office policies.
