Young People

The Hub is a music-making area for young people, where we run a series of workshops and sessions throughout the Festival. Details of artist names and workshop content will be published on the Hub page, when the information becomes available for 2013.

In 2011 we launched The Den, a brand new stage dedicated to emerging talent – and we will be building on its success for this year’s Festival.

Many young bands appear at the Cambridge Folk Festival. If you are a young musician attending the Festival, why not sign up to appear in the Club Tent, our open stage? This has been the launch pad for many young artists including Seth Lakeman and Rachel Unthank.

For those aged 9-13 there is equipment and activities, some of which will be supervised, beside the crèche. Please note that this area requires parents to be responsible for their children at all times. A daily timetable will be provided with all activities for the day. There may be a nominal charge for workshop materials.

The Festival runs a Young Musicians Competition, offering a limited number of free tickets for 14-18 year olds to attend the festival, take part in workshops and even perform as part of The Hub Band in the Club Tent. See more details below:
