Scotland at Cambridge Folk Festival

Creative Scotland supported the Scottish Showcase at 2011 Folk Festival, featuring some of Scotland’s best established musicians alongside young up and coming Scottish folk artists.

The partnership aimed to raise the profile of Scottish folk artists in England through an association with England’s most prestigious folk festival.  Showcase artists were given performance opportunities across all festival stages and also given professional development support at the Festival.

’2011 saw Creative Scotland supporting the Cambridge Folk Festival in its first year since taking over Scotland’s investment in our creative artists from the Scotish Arts Council. This underlined how important we see our partnership with Cambridge and we were delighted to make such a significant input resulting in a rosta of distinguished Scottish artists gracing the stage.”

2011 artists included The Peatbog Faeries with Emily Smith and Brian McNeill, Orkestra del Sol, Saltfishforty and The Paul McKenna Band.

Newcomers included Admiral Fallow, Mànran, Ewan McLennan and Rachel Sermanni.
